PRD for Neesh
1. Problem
1.1 Target Audience
LGBTQ2+ college and university students in North America need to alleviate their anxiety about finding acceptance in themselves and in society, and the ones who want to support them.
1.2 Problem overview
Queer college students are looking for a positive affirming space to gain peer support for a sense of belonging and advice from lived experiences of other queer individuals and alleviate their anxiety about finding acceptance in themselves and in society. However, there are few apps that let users share queer-specific stories or easily find others’ stories in the LGBTQ2+ community. Plus, LGBTQ2+ social apps are geared toward romantic and/or physical relationships.
1.3 Goals & Success
- Programme the 1st MVP of our 1.0 Neesh mobile app prototype.
- Why? Examine the real use of the app for user testing (qualitative research) and gaining usage data (quantitative research).
- Launch the beta version of the 1.0 prototype on the Apple Store.
- Why? We want to gather more users on the platform as early as possible and gain usage data for iterations.
- Build Main Features by the end of Winter term 2023: Feed page, the Inactive Convo page, Tag system (explore), Start a convo, Reply system, and Notification (Activity).
- Main features mean not only the static pages (front end) but also the function-able system (back end)
- Measure and assist social and empathetic connections between queer users.
1.4 Non-goals
- The active convo feature is not the top priority for this 1st prototype version. We can start with the regular convo.
- The features including Active Convo, Profile, Onboarding, and the Moderation system are important as the 1st MVP as well but for quicker lunch of the 1st MVP version, we plan to remain these to the 2nd MVP.
- The 1st MVP doesn’t serve on school email and content filter plans. It’s also because in the initial stage with a small scale of users, we still can control the community by our moderators.
1.5 Risks
The time limitation of the developers or any unexpected programming problem appears along the way, which could lead to the launch cannot be achieved on time.
